VeTTu CaKe





  • All purpose flour/Maida - 1 cup
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Egg - 1
  • Cardamom - 3 
  • semolina -3 tbsp [OptionaL]
  • Turmeric powder a pinch for color[Optional]
  • Oil for deep frying
  1. Powder sugar along with cardamom seeds
  2. Sieve together maida and baking powder.
  3. Mix together the maida, baking powder, sugar and cardamom.
  4. Beat egg
  5. When it is slightly beaten add the flour mixture to form smooth dough and set aside for 30 minutes , add only sufficient flour to make a smooth dough
  6. Roll the dough into a long cylindrical shape and make small  square shapes using your hands 
  7. Again cut this into small squares. Then take a sharp knife to make two medium deep cuts similar to a cross
  8. Heat oil
  9. Put the cut face of the dough down first into the oil.
  10. Deep fry until golden brown. transfer to kitchen towel to remove excess oil.
Make sure that oil is not too hot else outside of the cake burns earlier and inner dough will not be cooked.
